2017 Sterile Compounding Update 4 HOUR


The Sterile Compounding Update course is designed for IV certified pharmacists and technicians, who wish to earn 4 hours of CE credit to expand their professional skills and expertise in areas relating to sterile intravenous admixtures.

DATE: September 15, 2017

NOTE: As of September 2015, the new TSBP rule (291.133) required specific CE to maintain Sterile Compounding (IV) certification. This course may be used towards your required CE hours.

Requirements for CE Credit

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  This activity is approved for 0.4 CEUs (4 contact hours) of continuing education credit.  In order to receive 4 contact hours of CE credit, the participant must attend/participate in all sessions of the program, return their completed Record of Attendance Form at the conclusion of the program, and return to this website to complete the online evaluation.  
 
Must Complete CPE Evaulations by November 10, 2017 or Forfeit CPE Credit
As of May 1, 2014, ACPE has placed a strict limit of 60 days to complete the CPE requirements for credit for all pharmacy continuing education programs.  Pharmacists who fail to complete the requirements for credit for this program will forfit CPE credit for this activity.  Per rule set by ACPE, The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy will not be able to process credit after the 60 day deadline, and will not be able to route credits to the NABP eProfiles.

  • Describe the role of primary engineering controls, environmental design, and construction on microbial containment
  • List techniques and practices that can prevent contamination of compounded sterile preparations
  • State action and threshold levels for environmental monitoring
