2019 Immunization Update PrePPS


3-Hour Immunization Update (6:00 - 9:30pm) • Friday, Sept 13
 
About:  The Immunization Update is designed for pharmacists who are already certified to administer immunizations and vaccinations, and who need to obtain their TSBP-required 3 hours of immunization-focused CE credit to maintain their certification.  The goal is to provide attendees with relevant clinical and practice information, in order to keep abreast of current immunization practice information.
 
This program is offered as a Pre-Seminar program to the Pharmacy Practice Seminar (PPS) weekend event.  For more informaiton on PPS, please see the website at:  http://sites.utexas.edu/cpe-pps/
 
Registration for the Immunization Update is open to any pharmacist; registration for PPS is not required to attend this Pre-seminar Immunization Update.  
 
If participants do wish to also attend PPS, you must register seperately for each program.

Requirements for CE Credit

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This activity is approved for 3 contact hours (0.3 CEUs) of continuing education credit. In order to receive 3 hours of CE credit, the atendee must participate in all sessions of the activity, and complete the online Evaluations at the conclusion of the program. The specific ACPE credit number and hours are noted on the Agenda. CPE credit will be issued through CPE Monitor approximately 2 to 3 business days upon successful completion of the online evaluation. Attendee must also verify that their correct NABP# and date of birth are entered into their profile, and follow up with CPE Monitor to ensure proper credit has been issued BEFORE the 60-day window expires (60 days post activity).

Objectives

  • Identify changes or updates to the January 2019 immunization schedules for persons aged 0 through 18 years and adults.
  • Evaluate the most current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations.
  • Evaluate various questions that have been submitted to the CDC website as well as self-submitted by participants.
  • Determine appropriate answers for the questions that commonly arise and discuss related counseling points and key considerations.
  • Discuss vaccines under investigation or in the pipelines
  • Review proper administration techniques, adverse events management and documentation.
