• UT Preceptor • Crucial Conversations: When Casual Conversations Just Aren't Enough • Albrecht & Dasher

NOTE:  The content of this activity was developed specifically for UT Austin Preceptors.  However, any preceptors in the state of Texas are welcome to take this course if the content is deemed appropriate.

This activity provides preceptor training on how to provide effective and critical feedback to students.  The instructors provide information and propose strategies on how to identify characteristics of high, middle, and low performing students; provide an outline on the crucial converstation methodology for sharing tough or difficult messages to students; cover steps for developing strategies for better communication in difficult situations; and provide video examples of mock critical conversations along with analysis.

The activity is presented live annually by Jon Albrecht, MS, and Tony Dasher, Pharm.D. at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy’s annual Preceptor Orientation and Training Conference, held each August.  Although the live session was designed for Texas Preceptors, the information is appropriate for non-Texas preceptors as well.
