The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This online activity is approved for 0.10 CEUs (1.00 contact hour) of continuing education credit. To receive 1.00 contact hour of CE credit, the participant must watch the included video in its entirety, pass the online post-test ( >70% within 5 attempts), and complete the online evaluation. Upon successfully completing the course evaluation, the continuing pharmacy education credits will automatically be uploaded to CPE Monitor (allow 3-7 days).

About the Speakers
Tawny Smith, Pharm.D., BCPP.
Associate Professor of Psychiatry

After graduating with her Pharm.D., Dr. Smith completed a psychiatric pharmacy residency and clinical sciences fellowship in mental health outcomes at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. She is a board-certified psychiatric pharmacist currently serving as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry for The University of Texas at Austin (UT), Dell Medical School.  She also maintains an adjunct faculty appointment with the UT College of Pharmacy. Dr. Smith has outpatient practices in UT Health Austin Women’s Reproductive Mental Health and Bipolar Disorder clinics at the Mulva Clinic for the Neurosciences.  She also practices at Ascension Seton Shoal Creek Hospital in Austin, where she runs the psychopharmacology consult service. She serves as one of the core faculty for the DMS psychiatry residency program where she has been awarded several teaching awards. She has delivered numerous educational presentations to the community and other health professionals at national and international conferences throughout her career. She has over 80 published abstracts, peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the area of psychiatric pharmacy. She is an active member of the American Association for Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) and finished her 3-year term on the Board of Directors in June 2022. She remains active in her community and most recently she was elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Austin Clubhouse.

Marisa S. P. Toups, M.D.
Physiatrist / Owner, Singularity Psychiatry and Mental Health

Dr. Toups is a board-certified psychiatrist and specialist in treatment-resistant depression. After medical school, she completed psychiatric training, including a specialty fellowship focusing on the study of treatment outcomes for Major Depressive Disorder, at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas TX. As a faculty member at UT Southwestern and UT Austin Dell Medical School, she studied the role of immunity in major depression and served as an investigator in numerous clinical trials. She has taught evidence-based medicine to psychiatry residents, is the co-author of an award-winning journal club curriculum, and co-hosts a related podcast, the Yeah, No Journal Club. She now runs her own practice, Singularity Psychiatry and Mental Health, where she provides expert psychiatric care for patients with complex depression.
