• 2014 Texas IV Update for Pharmacists

About:  The IV Update course is designed for IV certified pharmacists who wish to earn 3 hours of CE credit to expand their professional skills and expertise in areas relating to sterile intravenous admixtures.  This year’s course will focus on the examination of processes that lead to medication errors, and the examination of the 2012 outbreak of fungal meningitis that caused sterile compounding personnel to look for ways of ensuring they are in full compliance with USP<797>.

This program was originally offered as a Pre-Seminar program of the Pharmacy Practice Seminar (PPS) event held on September 12, 2014 in Austin, Texas.
Registration for the IV Update is open to any pharmacist.    (Click here for the Pharmacy Technician version of this activity.)

IV Certification Maintenance:  As of September 2015, the new TSBP rule (291.133) requires specific CE to maintain IV certification in Texas.  This 3 hour activity may be used towards this new requirement.

Activity Content:  This activity includes two separate ACPE approved CPE activities...
  1. USP <797> Compliance, 1.5 contact hours
  2. TSBP Update on Sterile Compounding Rules
Upon purchase and registration for the overall activity, videos along with content slides and links to the post-tests and evaluations for each activity will appear in the activity tabs below.  In order to receive credit, participants must watch both videos in their entirety, review course materials, and complete post-tests and evaluations.
