Enhance Your Knowledge Regarding Opioid Use DisorderThis series will describe best practices regarding the use of supportive behavioral interventions and FDA-approved medications in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) of opioid use disorder. This learning opportunity is delivered from a multidisciplinary, team-based perspective, to better explain the successful outcomes that are attainable when a variety of healthcare professionals contribute to the patient-centered treatment process. The hours earned in this activity qualifies as Prescribing and Monitoring Controlled Substances (TSBP requirement).

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge-based CE activity consists of a series of online modules (3.5 CE hours) and recorded webinars (3.0 CE hours). In order to receive CE credit for an online module, participants must successfully complete the pre-test (not for grade), view module content in its entirety, pass the post-test with a minimum score of 70% (three attempts), and completion of the module evaluation. To earn CE credit for viewing a recorded webinar, participants must view the entire activity and complete the online evaluation. |

In this module, the faculty discusses three FDA-approved medications for OUD treatments, compares the basic pharmacology of these FDA-approved treatments, discribes evidence-based data of outcomes, contrasts barriers in accessing these treatments, and discusses the variables impacting these agents and treatments.

Then the webinar will offer the opportunity to engage with the course presenter, ask questions, and work through case examples.
In this module, the faculty discuss common comorbidities encountered in patients with sever OUD, describe team-based modules for comprehensive treatment of OUT as well as current controversies and ethical issues related to OUT treatment. Further, they describe the role of naloxone in opioid overdose prevention, additional harm reduction interventions, and evaluate common myths regarding harm reduction interventions.
