graphic of two people dancingThe Concept: One Foot in Each World

In Texas, we know the "Two-Step" requires balance, rhythm, and a solid connection with your partner. For practicing clinical faculty, the "Two-Step" is a daily reality. You have one foot firmly planted in the college; navigating teaching, scholarship, and service; while the other foot is in the clinic, delivering front-line patient care.

The Texas Practicing Pharmacy Faculty Alliance was created to help you master this dance. This unofficial network of clinical faculty across Texas recognizes that your dual role brings unique challenges and opportunities. We provide the platform to share strategies, find mentors, and build the resilience needed to lead in both academia and practice.

The 2026 Program

Our agenda features targeted CPE workshops designed to sharpen your skills in the four pillars of faculty success: Teaching, Scholarship, Service, and Professional Development.

We are especially honored to feature a Keynote Session on Professional Development led by Daniel R. Malcom, PharmD, BCPS. As the Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Sullivan University and an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education, Dr. Malcom brings an unparalleled perspective on academic advancement and the evolving landscape of pharmacy scholarship. [4.00 CPE]

Information and Instructions

Official Logo of ACPE CPD Provider program
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an approach to lifelong learning. The American Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) defines CPD as a self-directed, ongoing, systematic, and outcomes-focused approach to lifelong learning that is applied to practice. It involves the process of active participation in formal and informal learning activities that assist individuals in developing and maintaining continuing competence, enhancing their professional practice, and supporting the achievement of their career goals. The principles of CPD have already been incorporated into continuing education systems in several countries, including Great Britain, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

In 2024, ACPE launched new criteria for CPD in the USA that operates similarly to the traditional CPE Credit program. The main difference is that the individual pharmacist drives their own learning goals and outcomes. As a CPE and CPD Provider, The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy may now organize both CPE and CPD programs and award CE credit for CPD efforts.

CPD: Empowering Pharmacists in Their Learning Journey
CPD puts pharmacists in command of their own learning!

How It Works
The CPD process involves a cycle of learning that begins with reflecting on one's career, knowledge, and areas for improvement. Next, pharmacists plan their professional development, setting goals for improvement in their practice, themselves, and the profession, while articulating specific steps and actions to achieve these individual goals. Then, pharmacists execute their learning plan and apply and evaluate their professional development over a set timeframe. To earn credit, pharmacists work through this learning cycle and document their progress as they go along. The results and impact of CPD depend on the individual and the effort they invest. The role of the CPD Provider (UT Austin College of Pharmacy) is to offer a structure and documentation to help guide and coach pharmacists through their individual CPD plans.

UT Austin's CPD Approach: CPD Intensives
As one of the first CPD Providers in the USA, The College of Pharmacy's Center for Continuing Professional Development aims to provide support and structure to make completing the CPD Cycle as easy as possible, allowing pharmacists to focus on their professional development. We are using a CPD Intensive structure approach, which integrates the CPD Cycle components into any conference or thematic program.

UT CPD Intensive Format
Pharmacists can complete a CPD Cycle through the following steps:

REFLECTION (Pre-Event)
Before the live event, pharmacists will complete online surveys. For this program, these surveys are directly connected to the conference's overall theme.

PLAN (During the Event)
During the live event, pharmacists, whether attending in person or via live broadcast, will be guided to set personal goals. This includes articulating specific, targeted, and measurable first steps towards achieving these goals within six months and one year after the conference.

LEARN, APPLY, EVALUATE (Post-Event)
After the live event, and with their PLAN in hand, pharmacists will engage in their learning plan, apply what they've learned in practice, and evaluate its impact. To document this process and complete the CPD Cycle, pharmacists will return to the conference/event LMS site and complete follow-up surveys at the six-month and one-year marks.

DOCUMENT (Built into the Learning Management System/LMS)
One of the hallmarks of CPD is thorough documentation of your CPD Cycle. We facilitate this by recording each step through online surveys. This includes the reflection surveys completed before the event, a record of your goals set during the event, and the details of your learning, application, and evaluation activities after the event. All surveys you complete within our LMS will be accessible to you.

 GREEN TABS
The CPD components are integrated into this program and are clearly identified by GREEN tabs. Each tab contains specific instructions on how to complete that particular part of the cycle.

EASY
Our primary goal is to provide a very simple structure so you can focus your time and energy on your personal and professional development. Each survey is straightforward and quick to complete. You can return to view, download, print, or even edit any survey as needed. We're committed to making it easy for you to complete the CPD components.

A completed CPD Cycle comes with 10 CE credits! It's a new way to earn your Continuing Education, but entirely on your terms!

What Counts for CPD

CPD Examples:
The goal of CPD is to guide pharmacists through their own self-determined continuing professional development process, with easy documentation along the way. Your plan and goals are completely up to you!

Do What Already Works for YOU:
You know how you learn best. You can simply apply CPD to your existing learning habits! You likely already have resources you frequently consult for the latest information. All you need to do is articulate your current process within your CPD goals. You can earn CE credit for simply doing what already works best for you!
  • Journal Updates: You might already read specific journals and sources regularly to stay current on the latest treatments. Set your CPD goals to get even more out of how you learn!
  • Annual Conferences: Perhaps you already attend professional conferences or even volunteer for leadership roles with those groups. Set your CPD goals to enhance your learning at your annual conferences!
  • Projects at Work: You may already be developing processes or collecting data to improve your work. Use your CPD goals as a plan to make measurable changes that enhance your current practice!
  • Work-Life Balance: You might already have a process that helps you reduce stress and balance your work and personal life. You can set your CPD goals around activities that keep you balanced and ready to be the best pharmacist you can be!

Try Something New:
Many of us have practice, personal, and professional goals we want to achieve. You can align your CPD goals with these new aspirations and use CPD to outline specific steps for achieving fresh professional development.
  • Something You’ve Always Wanted to Do…: Are there areas of practice or professional leadership you've always wanted to explore but haven't? Set a long-term goal and then outline the first action steps toward that goal in your CPD plan!
  • Career Changes: Is there a career advancement or change you've wanted to make? Set your CPD goals to start working toward the career you truly desire!
  • Taking Care of Yourself: Have you felt burned out, or feel like you're on that path? Set CPD goals to prioritize self-care and improve your work-life integration. You can set a CPD goal for new self-care routines or to expand on what you already do.
  • Go for that Leadership Role: Have you always wanted to run for office in a professional organization? Set your CPD goals to begin your leadership journey!
  • Improve Skills: Can you identify gaps in your skillsets for communication, leadership, use of technology, or any other healthcare-related skills? Use your CPD goals to set a path for learning and improvement!
Your CPD goals are yours! Make them count!

UT CPD and BPS
Completing a UT CPD Itensive counts towards your BPS recertification requirements! You can use your notes and documentation in a UT CPD Intensive to upload to the MyBPS account. You can get all 10 credits just by completing the CPD cycle. For BPS recertification progress, activities must be self-reported into the board-certified pharmacist’s MyBPS account.

CPD: REFLECT - Complete Before June 25

CPD: REFLECT - Introduction

Understanding the ACPE CPD Cycle

The ACPE defines Continuing Professional Development as a self-directed, ongoing systematic process of planning, participating in, and documenting learning. Unlike traditional CE (which is often reactive), CPD is proactive.

The cycle consists of five interconnected stages:

  1. Reflect: Identify your learning needs based on your actual practice.

  2. Plan: Create SMART objectives to meet those needs.

  3. Learn: Engage in educational activities.

  4. Evaluate: Assess if the learning actually improved your practice.

  5. Record & Share: Document your progress for your portfolio and peers.

The Power of Reflection

Reflection is the "engine" of the CPD cycle. It is the moment you stop "doing" and start "analyzing." Without reflection, learning is accidental; with reflection, learning is strategic. By looking at your past and your present, you identify the specific knowledge, skills, or attitudes you need to acquire to remain a "top of license" practitioner.

Getting Ready for YOUR CPD Intensive: Our Three-Step Reflection Process

To help you navigate this first stage of the cycle, we have broken the Reflect phase into three distinct, manageable exercises:

1. The Professional Retrospective (The "What")

  • The Focus: Documentation and History.

  • The Activity: Updating your CV/Resume and LinkedIn Profile.

  • The Purpose: Before looking forward, you must look back. This exercise is a celebration of your journey. It allows you to gather the evidence of your impact—the lives saved, the protocols managed, and the credentials earned—to build a factual foundation of your current professional standing.

2. The Reflective Audit (The "How")

  • The Focus: Mastery and Strengths.

  • The Activity: Categorizing your skills into professional domains and identifying your "Superpowers."

  • The Purpose: This is where you translate your history into value. By auditing your records, you see which areas of your practice are "robust" and which may have stagnated. It helps you recognize the unique assets you bring to the healthcare team, ensuring you aren't just busy, but impactful.

3. The Professional Delta (The "Next")

  • The Focus: Gaps and Aspiration.

  • The Activity: Identifying the "Delta"—the space between your current reality and your future goals.

  • The Purpose: This is the bridge to the Plan phase. By looking at your practice through three lenses (Clinical, Leadership, and Service), you identify exactly where you want to grow. Identifying a "Delta" is not a sign of weakness; it is the mark of an expert who has the vision to pursue the next level of excellence.

Through these three steps, you move from being a practitioner of the past to being the architect of your future.

CPD REFLECT 1 - The Professional Retrospective

CPD REFLECTION - The Professional Retrospective

Reflecting on Your Professional Journey while Updating Your Profile

Before identifying where you want to go, you must clearly document where you are. This activity uses the process of updating your professional records to catalyze a deep reflection on your current competencies, specialized skills, and the unique value you bring to the pharmacy profession.

Task Overview

You will perform a comprehensive "audit" of your career by updating your Curriculum Vitae (CV) and LinkedIn Profile. Rather than a simple formatting update, treat this as a structured review of your professional evolution over the last 3–5 years.

Exercise 1: The Professional Retrospective (Resume/LinkedIn Update)

Learning Objectives:

  • Objective 1: Audit current professional records (CV and LinkedIn) to document at least three key accomplishments and core competencies acquired within the last three years of practice.
  • Objective 2: Synthesize a professional narrative that accurately aligns current pharmacy practice roles with demonstrated skills and specialized certifications.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open your current CV and LinkedIn profile. Update the "basics" to ensure accuracy:

  • Current Role & Scope: Ensure your current title and primary responsibilities accurately reflect your daily impact (e.g., clinical interventions, administrative oversight, or precepting).
  • Credentials & Certifications: Add any recent board certifications (BPS), specialized training, or advanced certificates.

2. The "Accomplishment Mining" Phase

Review your work history and list at least three major accomplishments from the past year. Focus on outcomes rather than just duties.
  • Example: Did you implement a new clinical protocol? Reduce medication errors in a specific unit? Lead a successful accreditation narrative?
  • Reflective Prompt: What is a project or intervention I am most proud of, and what specific skills were required to make it successful?

3. Skill Synthesis & Endorsement

On your LinkedIn profile, navigate to the "Skills" section.
  • Prune: Remove skills that are no longer central to your career path.
  • Prioritize: Identify your top 3 "Superpowers"—the areas where colleagues consistently seek your expertise (e.g., Medication Therapy Management, Regulatory Compliance, or Transformational Leadership).

4. Narrative Reflection (The "About" Section)

Draft or refine your LinkedIn "About" summary. Instead of a dry history, write 3–4 sentences that answer:
  • What is the "why" behind your practice?
  • What unique perspective do you bring to pharmacy?
  • What are you currently "really good at" that you want to leverage further?

CPD REFLECT 2 - From Professional Record to Reflective Audit

CPD REFLECTION - From Professional Record to Reflective Audit

Reflecting Your Strengths

The next step in your CPD Intensive will be to reflect on your strengths in core competencies and reflect on the processes that helped make you so impressive!  We will also explore what you may want to do next.

Task Overview:

Use your updated CV/Resume and LinkedIn profile to complete the following sections in the CPD Survey. This data will serve as the foundation for your upcoming Gap Analysis and Learning Plan.

Exercise 2: The Reflective Audit (Worksheet Analysis)

Learning Objectives:

  • Objective 1: Categorize documented professional achievements into specific ACPE-aligned domains (e.g., Clinical Care, Leadership, or Regulatory Compliance) to visualize areas of high vs. low activity.
  • Objective 2: Appraise personal professional "superpowers" and areas of stagnation to determine which competencies are most critical to maintain or revitalize.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Part 1: The Core Competency Mapping

Review the accomplishments you added to your CV. Place your top 5–7 "Current Strengths" into the relevant professional domains below. (Note: A single accomplishment might hit multiple domains.)

  • Domain 1: Clincial Patient Care
  • Domain 2: Operational & Systems Management
  • Domain 3: Leadership & Development
  • Domain 4: Regulatory & Policy Compliance
  • Domain 5: Professionalism & Communication

Part 2: The "Superpower" Synthesis

Based on your LinkedIn "About" section and the feedback you’ve received from colleagues (or LinkedIn endorsements), identify your Top 3 Professional Superpowers. These are things you do better than almost anyone else in your current setting.

Part 3: The Retrospective "Reality Check"

Now that you have looked at your career as a whole, answer these three reflective questions honestly:
  1. The "Stagnation" Check: Looking at your CV, which section (e.g., Certifications, Publications, New Clinical Skills) has the oldest date? Is this a domain you want to revitalize, or have you intentionally moved away from it?
  2. The "Energy" Check: Of the accomplishments you listed in Part 1, which one gave you the most professional satisfaction? Does your current LinkedIn profile highlight this enough?
  3. The "Future-Proof" Check: Are there emerging trends in pharmacy (e.g., new technology, shifting regulations, specialized therapies) that are currently missing from your professional records?

Release Date: Mar 9, 2026
Credit Expiration Date: Jun 30, 2026

CPD REFECT 3 - Professional Delta (Gap Analysis)

CPD REFLECTION - The Professional Delta
Gap Analysis

The goal of this activity is to identify your "Delta", the space between where your professional records stand today and where you want them to be in the years to come. In this session, you will look specifically at clinical and technical gaps, leadership growth, and your legacy of service to the pharmacy profession.

Task Overview:

Please complete the CPD Survey to help identify practice gaps and areas for improvement tailored specifically to your unique practice and professional development. From here, the CPD Intensive will guide you through the first steps of closing those gaps, addressing your "Deltas," and taking meaningful strides toward your future goals.

Exercise 3: The Professional Delta (Gap Analysis)

Learning Objectives

  • Objective 1: Contrast current professional standing against desired career milestones to identify specific gaps in clinical mastery, leadership experience, or technical knowledge.
  • Objective 2: Formulate a prioritized list of growth areas that includes at least one opportunity to contribute back to the pharmacy profession through mentorship, advocacy, or knowledge sharing.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Part 1: The Three-Lens Gap Analysis

Using your updated CV and the worksheet from Activity 1, evaluate your current state against these three distinct lenses.

Lens 1: The Practice Gap (Competency)

  • Prompt: Review the most recent clinical guidelines, technology shifts, or regulatory changes in your specific area of pharmacy.
  • The Question: What is a specific task, therapy, or tool that you "know of" but do not yet "master"?
  • Example: "I understand the shift toward value-based care, but I lack the data analytics skills to track patient outcomes in my department."
  • Your Gap: ______________________________________________________

Lens 2: The Professional Development Gap (Growth)

  • Prompt: Look at the person in the role you want to have in five years. What credentials, "soft" skills, or experiences do they have that are currently missing from your resume?
  • The Question: If you were to apply for your "dream" promotion tomorrow, where would the search committee find you most lacking?
  • Example: "I have the clinical expertise, but I lack formal experience in budget management or personnel leadership."
  • Your Gap: ______________________________________________________

Lens 3: The Contribution Gap (Service & Legacy)

  • Prompt: CPD is not just about personal gain; it is about the advancement of the profession.
  • The Question: How are you currently sharing your expertise with the wider pharmacy community? Are you a consumer of professional knowledge, or a contributor to it?
  • Your Gap: (e.g., Lack of precepting, no involvement in state/national associations, or not publishing/presenting).
  • Your Gap: ______________________________________________________

Welcome to the 2026 Two-Step Seminar

A seminar dedicated to those with the unique [dual] role of pharmacy faculty who have a practice site

[Text about the Two-Step and the day of information]

Welcome to the Optional CPD Intensive: From Reflection to Action

Welcome to the live portion of the CPD Intensive, an optional program included in the Two-Step program. By completing your professional retrospective and identifying your "Deltas" online, you have already done the hardest part: you’ve looked honestly at where you are and where you want to go. Now, we begin the work of building the bridge between the two.

The Canvas is Yours

For the next four hours, we invite you to step away from the daily pressures of the pharmacy counter or the clinical floor. This is a rare space designed for exploration, creativity, and professional design. We encourage you to think outside the box. CPD is not a box-checking exercise; it is an iterative process of self-creation. As we dive into today’s lessons and interactive exercises:

  • Be Audacious: Don’t just aim for the goal that is "easy"—aim for the one that excites you.

  • Be Collaborative: Engage with your peers. Often, the best solution to a practice gap is found in the shared wisdom of this room.

  • Be Present: Use this time to truly "work on" your career, rather than just "working in" it.

Setting the Stage for Your "Deltas"

Today’s journey culminates in a concrete output: the creation of your SMART objectives. While these objectives are just the beginning of your long-term professional goals, they represent the vital first strides toward closing your Deltas. You aren't just writing a plan; you are architecting the next phase of your legacy as a pharmacist.

Enjoy the Experience

You are part of an elite group of practitioners taking part in one of the first programs of this kind in the nation. You are already an amazing professional—today is simply about unlocking the "Next" version of your impact.

Dive in, engage deeply, and most importantly, enjoy the process of becoming.

CPD Intro: Choreographing Your Professional Growth

The Faculty Two-Step: Choreographing Your Professional Growth

A Combined CPD Intensive Workshop

In the "Two-Step" of academic pharmacy, you are constantly balancing one foot in the clinic and the other in the classroom, scholarship, and service. Finding your rhythm in both worlds requires more than just hard work—it requires a clear set of steps. This intensive workshop combines reflection, visioning, and cutting-edge technology to help you master the dance.

We will move through three critical movements to align your dual roles:

  • Step 1: The Audit (Reflect) Step out of the daily "delivery" mindset and into the "architect" mindset. We will audit your professional landscape across three pillars—Clinical, Personal, and Legacy—to identify where your current practice lacks alignment with your ultimate career trajectory.

  • Step 2: The Vision (Plan) Transform your identified gaps into long-term professional aspirations. You will articulate a "North Star" goal for each pillar, shifting from "what is missing" to "where you want to be" in 3 to 5 years.

  • Step 3: The Lab (AI Co-Coaching) Step into the lab and use Generative AI as your personal "Two-Step" coach. You’ll use AI as a sounding board to pressure-test your goals, interrogate your ideas, and identify blind spots, all while building the AI literacy needed to lead in a tech-driven landscape.

Outcome: You will leave this session not just with a plan, but with the specific "choreography" needed to ensure your efforts in the clinic and the college are perfectly in sync.

CPD PLAN: Setting the Goals and your SMART Objectives

CPD PLAN - Setting the Goals and your SMART Objectives

Putting Action to Your Goals

Goal: To translate high-level aspirations into a phased execution plan. You will create a tiered timeline of SMART Objectives that serve as your professional CPD Plan for the next nine months.

Part 1: The SMART Refresher
A SMART objective is a specialized framework used to turn a vague desire into a concrete, actionable plan. In the context of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), it is the difference between "wanting to be a better leader" and "completing a specific leadership certification by Q3."

Before we write, we calibrate. To meet ACPE and BPS standards, every objective must be:
  • Specific: What exactly will you do?
  • Measurable: How will you prove you did it?
  • Attainable: Can you realistically do this while working?
  • Relevant: Does it actually close the gap you identified?
  • Time-bound: When is the "due date" for this specific milestone?

Part 2: The Phased Workshop
You will now map your three pillars (Work, Growth, Legacy) onto a 9-month timeline. Use your AI-generated blueprints from the previous session as a starting point, but hand-refine them into your own voice.

The Timeline Strategy:
  • 3-Month Milestones (The "Launch"): Focus on foundational learning or immediate "quick wins."
    • Example: "By June, I will complete 5 hours of CE specifically in pharmacogenomics interpretation."
  • 6-Month Milestones (The "Application"): Focus on applying that learning to your practice or leadership role.
    • Example: "By September, I will conduct a pilot review of 10 patient charts using the new genomic protocol."
  • 9-Month Milestones (The "Achievement"): Focus on finalized outcomes or "Stewardship" goals.
    • Example: "By December, I will present my findings to our interprofessional committee to advocate for a permanent protocol change."

Learning Objectives
  • Translate high-level professional aspirations into a tiered, nine-month CPD plan utilizing the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound) framework.
  • Construct a phased execution roadmap for three core professional pillars (Professional Impact, Personal Evolution, and Professional Stewardship) that aligns with current pharmacy practice standards and personal career goals.

The Day 1 Finale: Let's Two-Step Over to the Broken Spoke!

Y'all have been working hard, mastering the mental health and academia "two-step" all day! The deep dives into psychopharmacology and professional development have been incredible, but now it’s time for some actual two-stepping.

We’re kicking up our heels to celebrate the end of an incredible Day 1. Please join us for an evening of Texas hospitality and tradition at the world-famous Broken Spoke!

graphic of cowboy bootsWhat to Expect: Known as "The Last True Texas Dancehall," the Spoke offers live country music, cold drinks, and a dancefloor that’s seen legendary footsteps. Don’t know how to two-step? Don’t sweat it! The Spoke often offers dance lessons, and half the fun is just watching the locals spin around the floor. If dancing isn't your speed, come for the atmosphere and the chance to finally relax with your Alliance partners in a quintessential Austin setting.

Who’s Invited: Everyone!  But primarily for our In-Person Attendees looking for the full "Austin" experience. We want to clear the floor and connect the community!

Online Trailblazers: While we can't virtually transport you to the Broken Spoke (the logistics would be a migth bit tough!), we encourage you to use this evening to unwind and celebrate your own "two-step" in your own way. Grab your favorite local refreshment, put on some Texas tunes, and relax, you’ve earned it!  (We recommend a bit of George Straight, but you do you!)

When and Where: We’ll mosey over right after the final session of Day 1 wraps. Grab a ride, find a partner, and let’s keep the rhythm going!

Hook 'em and let’s dance!

CPD Intro: Choreographing Your Professional Growth - repeat of Thursday session in case you missed!

The Faculty Two-Step: Choreographing Your Professional Growth

This is a repeat of the workshop for CPD conducted on Thursday meant for those who could not attend on Thursday but wanted to take part in the CPD Intensive.  If you did attend on Thursday, you are welcome to attend again and continue to work on your reflections.

Now you are off to put your plans into action!

The 9-Month Journey: From Plan to Practice

The Concept: A Rhythmic Approach to Growth

Now that you have architected your goals and set your initial SMART objectives, you are entering the most rewarding phase of the CPD Intensive: The Application. Over the next nine months, we have designed a rhythmic "check-in" structure to help you navigate your progress. While every professional path is unique, we suggest a general flow to help focus your energy:

  • Months 1–3 (The Learning Phase): Focus on acquiring new knowledge, attending workshops, or researching best practices.

  • Months 4–6 (The Application Phase): Begin integrating what you’ve learned into your daily clinical or leadership environment.

  • Months 7–9 (The Evaluation Phase): Step back to assess the impact of your changes on patient care, your team, or your own professional fulfillment.

A Message on the "Perfect Path" (Hint: It Doesn't Exist)

In a clinical setting, we often look for precision and predictability. However, professional growth is rarely a straight line.

This is a journey, not a strict process. We want to be clear: It is okay if your path doesn't look like a textbook.

  • Life happens.

  • Clinical priorities shift.

  • Bumps in the road are not "failures"—they are simply data points that help you pivot.

If you find that a SMART objective you wrote three months ago no longer serves your current practice, change it. If you hit a challenge that slows you down, breathe. The "Delta" is not a gap you must sprint across; it is a space for you to explore, iterate, and evolve.

Celebrate the "Small Wins" Along the Way

Don't wait until Month 9 to feel successful. We encourage you to find joy in the process itself.

  • Celebrate the first time you apply a new skill, even if it feels clunky.

  • Take pride in the check-ins, even if your update is "I’m still working on this."

  • Stay Curious: Dive into the lessons and see where they lead you. You are one of the most highly regarded professionals in the world, and the fact that you are dedicated to this level of growth is a testament to your character.

The Road Ahead

We will be with you every three months to check in and see how you’re doing. These aren't "tests"; they are milestones to help you pause and acknowledge how far you’ve come.

Enjoy the ride, dive into the challenges, and be proud of every step forward you take.

CPD LEARN: End of Summer Check In

CPD: Learning 3-Month Check-in

You are Putting your Plan into Action! How’s it going?
Welcome to your first formal check-in. Three months ago, at the CPD Intensive, you stood on the Forty Acres and mapped out a vision for your future. Today is about taking a tactical pause to see how that map matches the terrain of your daily practice. This session is designed to help you document your progress, troubleshoot barriers, and earn your next increment of CE credit as you move from "Planning" to "Applying."

First: Congratulations on getting started. Taking the first step is often the hardest part of any transformation. This survey serves as your official documentation and recording step, but more importantly, it is a space dedicated entirely to you. As pharmacy professionals, we spend our days caring for others; this is your scheduled time to care for yourself and your own professional evolution.

Remember: There is no such thing as failure in CPD.
If the last 90 days didn't go exactly as planned, you are still succeeding. Perhaps life changed, priorities shifted, or your initial assumptions were simply too ambitious. That isn't a setback, it's data. For many of you, this may be the first time in your career that you have stopped to intentionally reflect on and plan your development. It takes practice to shift your thinking toward the CPD model.

Be honest in this review. No one is grading you, and no one is judging your individual progress. This process is yours alone. Whether you’ve cleared every hurdle or discovered that you need to draw a completely new map, you are learning.

Enjoy this process, have fun with the reflection, and remember: there are no shortcomings here, only new insights. Now, let’s get started on your 3-month check-in.

Learning Objectives:
  • Document specific learning activities and initial progress made toward established SMART professional development goals.
  • Identify primary barriers encountered during the first 90 days of plan implementation to determine necessary tactical adjustments.

CPD: Momentum 6-Month Check-in

You’ve Reached the Midway Point! How is the momentum?
Welcome to your 6-month formal check-in. Half a year ago, you stood on the Forty Acres and mapped out a vision for your future. Today is about taking a strategic pause to see how that map has evolved as you’ve navigated the real-world terrain of your daily practice. This session is designed to help you document your progress, refine your strategy, and earn your next increment of CE credit as you move from Applying to Mastering your professional evolution.

First: Congratulations on making it this far. Let’s be honest—many people start a journey like this, but few stay the course for six full months. By showing up today, you are already going above and beyond. However, we also know that in six months, everything can change.

If you have followed your plan to the letter: Congratulations! You somehow managed to predict the future perfectly. Perhaps you should consider a side career as a fortune teller! But for the rest of us… if your priorities shifted, if your schedule exploded, or if you simply didn’t do everything you wanted to do… congratulations to you, too. You are a normal, busy professional navigating a demanding field.

This process belongs to you, and you alone. As you move through this review, remember the core rule of CPD: There is no failure, only learning. If you didn't hit a goal, that is simply an invitation to pivot. This is likely the first time in your career you’ve used a structured process to actually reflect on your growth over half a year. That experience in itself is a massive win.

Be honest and have fun with this. No one is grading your progress or judging your "shortcomings." Use this time to care for your own development with the same diligence you use to care for your patients. Whether you are sticking to the original map or drawing a brand-new one today, you are taking command of your career.

Let’s dive into your 6-month check-in and see where the momentum takes you next.

Learning Objectives:
  • Evaluate the impact of applied new knowledge on current pharmacy practice, workflow, or patient care interactions.
  • Modify mid-term SMART objectives based on an assessment of the evolving professional priorities.
