• Immunization Update 2016


 
The Immunization Update is designed for pharmacists who are already certified to administer immunizations and vaccinations. The goal is to provide attendees with relevant clinical and practice information, in order to keep abreast of current immunization practice information.
 
 
The lecture was originally recorded at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy's annual Pharmacy Practice Seminar.

ABOUT THE COURSE:
This update is set up as 4 separate videos and post tests.  You may complete all videos and post-tests at once or break them up over time.  There is a post-test at the conclusion of each section and credit will be given upon completion the post-tests and evaluation of video 4. 
 
SPECIAL NOTE: This Immunization Update program meets the TSBP-required 3 hours of immunization-focused CE credit to maintain immunization certification.    
 
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
  • Identify changes or updates to the immunization schedules for persons aged 0 through 18 years and adults based on January 2016
  • Evaluate the most current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations
  • Evaluate various questions that have been submitted to the CDC website
  • Determine appropriate answers for the questions that commonly arise and discuss related counseling points and key considerations.
  • Review Zika and its current investigative vaccines
  • Discuss vaccines under investigation or in the pipeline

Program Design: 
This course is presented in a lecture format, available via MP4 files, and is accompanied by PDFs of the presenter's PowerPoint slides. A post-test and program evaluation will be completed after reviewing the presentation. The post-test and evaluation must be completed BEFORE March 2019.

Requirements for CE Credit

The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  This online activity is approved for a total 0.3 CEUs (3.00 contact hours) of continuing education credit.  In order to receive all 3.00 contact hours of CE credit, the participant must watch all videos in their entirety (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4), complete the online post-tests, and complete the online evaluation. Credit will be given once all post-tests are completed and the program evaluation at the end of video 4 is complted.
