2020 Sterile Compounding Update • 2 Hours CPE


 
This program is designed for IV-certified pharmacists and technicians who wish to earn 2 hours of sterile compounding CE credit as required for pharmacists/technicians who engage in low- to medium-risk sterile compounding (TSBP rule (291.133)).

Activity Description

The Sterile Compounding Update is a knowledge-based activity designed for IV-certified pharmacists and technicians who wish to earn 2 hours of sterile compounding CE credit. The course aims to expand participants' professional skills and expertise in areas relating to sterile compounding, while staying abreast in current compounding practice trends. 

NOTE: This content is intended for pharmacists and technicians who are engaged in compounding low and medium risk sterile preparations, according to requirements outlined by TSBP rule (291.133)

This program consists of 2 videos and downloadable resources in PDF format.  To begin, take the ungraded pre-test for the first module below.  Review the video and handouts, then complete the post-test ( > 70% within 5 attempts) and evaluation. Follow this same process for the second module. After completing both modules, complete the course evaluation then CPE credit will automatically upload to CPE Monitor (allow 7 days). 
 

Continuing Education Credit
 
The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  This online activity is approved for 0.20 CEUs (2.00 contact hours) of continuing education credit. In order to receive 2.00 contact hours of CE credit, the participant must complete the online pre-tests (ungraded), watch the two included videos in their entirety, pass the online post-tests ( > 70% within 5 attempts), and complete the online evaluations.  Upon successful completion of both modules and the course evaluations, continuing pharmacy education credits will automatically be uploaded to CPE Monitor (allow 7 days). 
Please make sure NABP profile ID and date of birth (month/year) are entered correctly under learner's profile in this system.

Part 1 includes an ungraded pre-test, a video, a PDF of presentation slides, and links to useful resources.  In order to proceed, learners must complete the pre-test, view the video, and complete the post-test ( > 70% within 5 attempts) and evaluation. Upon completion of Part 1, Part 2 will be accessible.

Tiffany Kofroth is an Advanced Pharmacy Technician at the University of Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. On the Continuing Pharmacy Education Team, she serves as the primary instructor of the initial sterile compounding training course and she also creates didactic and practical continuing education courses for staff employed within the Division of Pharmacy. Her professional accomplishments include serving on the inaugural ASHP pharmacy technician forum executive committee, volunteering as a content expert for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), volunteering on the Certification Board for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), she received the Educator of the Year Award at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2019, and she also received the Outstanding Technician Award for the Gulf Coast Chapter of TSHP in 2018. Her personal accomplishment include volunteering for the Houston Astros Foundation and the Ronald McDonald house within MD Anderson.
