  • Explain the physiological role of Vitamin D in the body.
  • Recognize the clinical features of Vitamin D deficiency and identify which patients are at greater risk.
  • Summarize consensus guidelines and recommendations concerning the intake of Vitamin D and determine appropriate dosing for different patient 
  • Describe monitoring for patients taking Vitamin D supplementation to ensure safe/effective treatment.

Continuing Education Credit
The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This online activity is approved for 0.10 CEUs (1.00 contact hour) of continuing education credit. To receive 1.00 contact hour of CE credit, the participant must watch the included video in its entirety, pass the online post-test ( >70% within 5 attempts), and complete the online evaluation. Upon successfully completing the course evaluation, the continuing pharmacy education credits will automatically be uploaded to CPE Monitor (allow 3-7 days).

Kristin Janzen is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. After graduating from UT College of Pharmacy, she completed a combined PGY1 & 2 Pharmacotherapy residency at Butler University and Indiana UniversityHealth in Indianapolis, IN, where she stayed on faculty for a year prior to returning home to UT. She currently practices at Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas in Internal Medicine, where she precepts APPE students and residents on academic internal medicine rotations. Her research and teaching interests focus on core medicine disease states, such as pulmonology, cardiology, diabetes, and interprofessional education.
