MTM • 2016 Feb 20 • APhA's Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services Certification Training Program • AUSTIN

About the Program

Delivering Medication Therapy Management Services certificate training program is an active learning seminar in which participants practice a variety of communication techniques to elicit a patient's medication experience and identify medication-related problems, using cases based on the real-life experiences of MTM providers. Participants will gain experience interviewing patients, identifying and prioritizing medication-related problems, developing and implementing interventions, and documenting activities. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to explore various business models and billing strategies and discuss plans for implementation. Through additional pre-seminar self-study modules, case studies, hands-on patient interview, and assessment practice sessions, pharmacists will obtain the clinical knowledge and skills needed to establish medication therapy management services.

How The Program Works / What You Must Complete for Certification:

Complete the Online Portion of the Program (10 hours):  After you register, return to this program page.  When you scroll down on this page after registering, the instructions on how to start the online portion of the program will appear.  The instructions will also be copied on a downloadable PDF document.   NOTE:  These are the instructions and codes you will need to complete the online portion program.  No additional information will be emailed or sent to you.

Attend the Live Seminar (8 hours):  You should complete the online portion (estimated at 10 hours) BEFORE attending the live program.  After the 8 hour live seminar, you will be required to go back online and claim that you did complete the live program using a code that you receive at the live seminar.

Compelte POST-Seminar Cases (3 hours*):  You will then be required to complete a number MTM cases in practice, and complete the online portion of the post-seminar program.  Once you complete this POST-Seminar portion, you will have completed the Certification for MTM.  *NOTE:  Some states require additional case work for certification.  For example, Minnesota pharmacists are required to do additional cases.  If you practice outside of Texas, be sure to contact your state board of pharmacy to ensure you are not required to do additional cases.
